Dirk BakerDirk Baker
Director of Tennis

Dirk, a U.S.P.T.A., P-1 professional, has been involved with the game of tennis as a player, teacher and coach for over 25 years. He began his tennis career in Southern California where he held high junior rankings with numerous tournament wins. He was ranked #1, and named Junior Player of the Year in San Diego County, CA. While attending Saddleback College, he was a member of the Men's State Championship team. He has played professional satellite tournaments in Mexico and throughout the United States as well as qualifying tournaments for World Series events. In 2002, Dirk was named U.S.T.A. Wyoming male player of the year. Dirk has trained and worked with many well- known tennis figures. A few he has trained with are Pancho Segura, a top ranked player, coach and Tennis Hall of Fame inductee; Tom Leonard who had wins over Conners, McEnroe and Borg. He has worked along side Pancho Segura, former coach of Jimmy Connors and Andre Agassi; Jose' Hugeras, former coach of Jim Courier; Wayne Bryan, father and coach of top ranked double players, Mike and Bob Bryan. He has been a hitting partner for Andre Agassi and has playing experience with tennis great Rod Laver. Working at the Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, Ca. and other facilities throughout the United States he has coached numerous junior players who reached national and international rankings preparing them for successful college careers. Among the many he has coached is Tiffany Brymer, U.S.C. All American who he led to National Indoors where she won the coveted ‘Gold Ball', Nick Rainey, U.S.C, All American; Ryan Redondo, NCAA doubles finalist; Travis Rettenmaier, U.C.L.A., All American and Brian Wilson, NCAA doubles champion. He led Kyle McDonald to a #1 ranking, Intermountain section, and then to the National Hard Court Championships in Kalamazoo, MI. In 2006, he was the coach for the Boys/Girls Intersectional National team 16 and under. He has coached several U.S.T.A. adult teams from the local level to Nationals. In 2004, he was U.S.T.A. Pacific Northwest section Outstanding Tournament Director of the Year. Dirk's wide range of experience is a valuable asset in Directing the Tennis Department here at the Eugene Swim & Tennis Club.



David ChunDavid Chun
Head Tennis Professional

David Chun is a USPTA Pro 1 certified tennis teaching professional who has enjoyed the game of tennis as both a teacher/coach and as a player for over 25 years. David loves teaching and coaching both adults and juniors with either recreational or competitive goals-- both singles and doubles. David enjoys playing in leagues and Pacific Northwest tournaments, as well as coaching competitive players and teams. During the last 10 years, David has been very active and involved in many aspects of the Eugene tennis community, supporting the U of O Men's and Women's Tennis programs, and is currently Vice President of the Emerald Empire Tennis Association. David finds Nick Bollettieri's developmental tennis teaching curriculum to be very useful with junior players, and is currently developing his own manual to be published for tennis teachers and coaches. David is one of the first 50 individuals to be certified by legendary strength and conditioning coach Pat Etcheberry, and is Eugene Swim and Tennis Club's Head Tennis Professional.
